Dr. Rayham generally performs labiaplasty procedures in an office based settings in Manhattan/NYC, Brooklyn or Staten Island, New York. Your procedure normally lasts less than an hour. It is performed under sedation and local anesthesia. There is no need for general anesthesia. Excess skin/mucosa is removed and new smaller inner lips are formed.

The recovery process is usually uncomplicated. You will have some swelling in the area which will go away within 1-2 weeks. Patients are advised to abstain from sexual activity for 2 to 3 weeks or until the final healing occurs. There are usually no sutures that need to be removed. With time the scar becomes practically invisible even on a very close examination. The sensation of the inner lips gets enhanced due to reduction of extra skin/mucosa. Right after the operation you may experience some pain associated with the surgery which is usually controlled well with pain medications. Upon discharge you will have prescriptions for pain medication that you will take as needed, and antibiotics that you will need to take for several days to decrease chances of infection.
