These procedures are usually done in an office setting with local anesthetic cream and possible local anesthetic dental block for facial fillers. BOTOX ® injections are very well tolerated by patients. A small layer of local anesthetic cream is sometimes applied for additional comfort. The smallest size needles used to administer several tiny injections into the areas of forehead and around the eyes. The recovery process is minimal and the patients are able to leave the office and get back to their usual activities within minutes of the procedure. You should see flattening of your wrinkles starting anytime from three days to two weeks and the effect should last for three to six month. Synthetic Injectable fillers, such asRestylane ® , Perlane ® , JUVÉDERM™, Radiesse ® , andArteFill ® are usually done in the office following application of anesthetic ointment, or sometimes dental block, to reduce discomfort. Pre and post-procedure ice application helps significantly with swelling and reduction of chances for bruising. A synthetic filler substance or your own fat is injected below the skin surface to fill hollow areas and creases, or plump the lips and back of the hands. If fat harvesting is required, it is done with the use of local anesthetic injection into the inner thigh or abdominal areas. Addition of mild sedation makes fat harvesting process easily tolerable by the majority of patients.

Following BOTOX ® treatment you can immediately return to your normal activities. Certain post-procedure guidelines may be useful to further expedite your recovery period. You should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for a minimum of 4 hours after the injections. It is also advisable to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours. Following synthetic filler or fat injection procedures the areas of the face should be iced for minutes to hours to reduce swelling. Following your filler injection procedures you will have some swelling that should dissipate in 2-5 days for synthetic fillers, or 1-2 weeks with fat injections. Application of ice to the treated areas for 24-48 hrs should decrease the amount of swelling and further expedite the healing process. This procedures produces temporary results, lasting a few months to several years or more, based on the filler used, treatment site and individual patient factors. Some products may be permanent.
